The case of abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi from a political platform in Singhwada area of Darbhanga is gaining momentum. This incident took place during a public meeting organized by Congress leader Mohammad Naushad, where one of his supporters made an objectionable comment about the Prime Minister’s mother from the stage. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, a sharp reaction was seen in political circles.
The organizer of the platform, Mohammad Naushad, issued a video statement and expressed regret over the incident and apologized. He clarified that he respects the Prime Minister and has never been involved in such a controversy in his 20 years of political life. Naushad also said that at the time this comment was made, he was not present on the stage and had left for Muzaffarpur with Rahul Gandhi. He also described this incident as a conspiracy of some leaders who are in the race for tickets.
Mohammad Naushad is originally a resident of Deura Bandhauli village of Jaale police station area of Darbhanga. He started with Congress politics in Delhi and once contested the election of Ward Councillor of Delhi Municipal Corporation, in which he had to face defeat. He has been the National Secretary of Youth Congress and is currently a member of AICC. He has a bag manufacturing business in Delhi, which is his main source of income. His family lives in Delhi.
According to the villagers, Naushad becomes active in Jaale area during election time and is now preparing to contest from Jaale assembly seat. However, he has not contested any election from Darbhanga or Jaale so far. His Facebook profile has his pictures with many senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, which shows his activism in the party.
This incident remains a topic of discussion in political circles and BJP leaders have demanded a public apology from the Congress in this matter. At the same time, after Naushad’s clarification, Congress has also tried to defend the matter by calling it a conspiracy.
